Rules of EVO Japan 2024 Cosplay Contest are Revealed! #EVOJ24CosCon

Similar to last year’s event, we’ll be hosting a series of cosplay parades and a cosplay competition at Evo Japan 2024. The winner of this year’s competition will win a trip to Evo 2024 in Las Vegas! 

Our cosplay events are open to all, please note that the competition will be limited to fighting game related costumes.

<Cosplay Parade>

Gather at the cosplay area with your favorite fighting game cosplay! Let's parade throughout the venue.

Parade participants will have an opportunity to win some prizes.

Date:

4/27(Sat.) Time: 3 PM -

4/28(Sun.) Time: 11 AM -

*Expected to be 30 minutes in length, each..

How to participate:

1. Wear cosplay and gather at the designated cosplay stage! All the participants will parade around the venue. 

2. Each participant will strike a pose at the cosplay stage.

3. After the parade, we will have a Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors) competition for prizes.

<Cosplay Contest>

A cosplay contest will be held to show off your costumes, performances, and love for the fighting game characters. Let's join in and have fun together!

The Top 6 nominees will perform at the awards ceremony, and the winner of the contest will receive a special prize! Each of the Top 6 cosplay contestants will receive an Evo medal.

Judging 

Judging will be based on costume accuracy, craftsmanship and the performance attitude/vibe from each cosplay performer.

How to participate:

Preliminary Round

1. Pre-registration (April 1-17) on X

1. Follow @evojapan_info account on X/twitter.

2. Post 2 photos of yourself (at least 1 photo showing whole body) in fighting game related cosplay and use hashtags #EVOJ24CosCon or #EVOJ24GamingCos.

3. Those who advance to the finals will be contacted by the Evo Japan official account via X/twitter.

4. Finalists will meet at the  cosplay stage at 4:30 PM on April 28 (Sun.) wearing the cosplay worn in the submitted photos (please note that if the cosplay is different from that in the submitted photos, the entry will be void and disqualified from competition).

2. On-site application

1. Register your entry on 4/27 (Sat.) from 11:00 AM to 2PM or 4/28 (Sun.) from noon to 2:00 PM at the cosplay stage.

2. Participate in an interview process, answering questions from our judges and posing/showcasing your cosplay. The staff may also take your photos for reference.

3. Share your name, contact information and with Evo Japan staff.

4. Those who advance to the finals will be contacted by Evo Japan staff. Please reply to us by XX. Finalists will meet at the cosplay stage at XX on Sunday, April 28.

Grand Finals

Date and Time: 4/28 (Sun.) 5:00 PM -

Details

1. Each finalist will strike a pose and perform on the cosplay stage. They will also be interviewed by the judges..

2. After all the finalists have finished showcasing their cosplay, the judges will choose the overall standings and Top 6 will be given Evo medals. The winner will also receive a trip to Evo 2024 in Las Vegas!

■Cosplay Contest Notes

-Minors must have the consent of a parent or guardian to participate in the cosplay contest.

-X/Twtter account of advance entrants must be public accounts and have Direct Messages (DM) open in case we need to contact you. 

-Prohibited items and terms and conditions will be in accordance with Evo Japan 2024 Cosplay Guidelines.

-If you do not attend the award ceremony in which you were selected as a candidate on Sunday, April 28 , you will not be eligible for the award.

-Submission of someone else's cosplay will not be eligible.

-It is necessary for finalists to purchase entrance tickets for April 28 to get into the venue.

-The overall division winner's prize, an invitation to Evo 2024 in Las Vegas, USA from 7/19 (Fri) to 7/21 (Sun), is only available to the winner. Even if the winner is unable to travel to the event, the prizing is non-transferrable, and cash cannot be awarded in it’s place.

-The contest may be canceled or limited due to overcrowding or other reasons that interfere with the operation of Evo Japan 2024.

-If you wish to use official photos or videos from the cosplay event for commercialization or advertising, please request permission in advance.
